What is the difference between smooth plaster and spachtelputz?
Smooth plaster gives a tight, even wall ready to paint or wallpaper. Spachtelputz is a granular decorative render with texture that serves as the finish itself and needs no painting.
Can a bare wall be plastered directly?
Yes. A bare wall of brick, sand-lime block or concrete is first treated with a bonding layer, after which the plaster is applied for a smooth result.
